Expenses previously reimbursed under or could be reimbursed under another plan: FSA Eligibility

Expenses not incurred during the coverage period of a flexible spending account (FSA), health savings account (HSA), a health reimbursement arrangement (HRA), a limited care flexible spending account (LCFSA) or a dependent care flexible spending account (DCFSA) are not eligible for reimbursement.

Which expenses are eligible for reimbursement?

Consumer-directed healthcare plan expenses are eligible for reimbursement if they haven’t been previously reimbursed, and can’t be reimbursed under another plan. Reimbursing expenses under any other eligible plan precludes those expenses from being reimbursed under a consumer-directed healthcare account. Doing so would be considered “double dipping” which is not allowed under IRS regulations.
