What are insoles?
Insoles are a type of foot cushioning product that are designed to help correct acute or chronic medical issues that can cause pain during regular activity. Insoles are available over-the-counter, but they can also be custom-made by a podiatrist for patients who have a unique foot shape or more advanced medical issues.
The term "insoles" commonly refers to over-the-counter cushioned insoles, heel cups and shoe inserts that are primarily used to tackle common foot pain ailments, but more advanced insoles are most commonly referred to as orthotics. The pattern and design of these orthotics are customized with specific indentation and contours to correct specific foot pain issues, the most common of which include plantar fasciitis, arthritis, bone spurs, corns & calluses, tendinitis and many more potential medical conditions (LiveAbout).
