Mouthwash may be analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, or just antiseptic. Mouthwash may be used in conjunction with toothbrushing and flossing as part of a mouth healthcare routine. Mouthwash may also serve a personal use purpose in terms of temporarily providing better, more pleasant breath (American Dental Association).
Mouth wash that is purchased Over-the-Counter (OTC) as a normal personal use product is not eligible for reimbursement with any consumer-directed healthcare account. Mouthwash that is purchase Over-the-Counter (OTC) is not used to treat, alleviate or prevent a medical condition. It is considered a personal use product in nature.
