What are Commuter Benefits?

Commuter fringe benefits include qualified Transportation and Parking expenses. A Transportation account lets employees set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for qualified work related transportation expenses, such as a transit pass, bus fare, or van-pool commute. A Parking Account allows employees to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for qualified parking costs while at work. The pre-tax contribution limit for commuter benefits is currently set by the IRS at $255 per month, and indexed for inflation each year.
