Dilator: FSA Eligibility

Dilator: eligible with a Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
A dilator is eligible for reimbursement with flexible spending accounts (FSA), health savings accounts (HSA), and health reimbursement accounts (HRA). Dilators are not eligible for reimbursement with dependent care flexible spending accounts (DPFSA) and limited-purpose flexible spending accounts (LPFSA).

What is a dilator?

A dilator is a tube-shaped device that is designed to stretch the vagina. Dilators are used for a multitude of reasons. One of the most common causes of needing a vaginal dilator is due to gynecological cancer radiation damaging the vaginal wall and lining, causing discomfort and making the vagina less flexible (Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center).

Dilators can help those with vaginal agenesis, a condition in which a vagina might not have fully developed, by allowing the person to stretch and widen the vagina that is there, creating a neovagina (International Society for Sexual Medicine).
