What is fenugreek?

Fenugreek is an herb, most commonly found in the form of a supplement for medical purposes but also consumed as a spice used in cooking. It is known for helping testosterone levels, blood sugar, breastfeeding and more (Healthline).

Fenugreek is used in herb tea to help new mothers produce a sufficient amount of breast milk for their children, which in turn helped the babies gain more weight.

Fenugreek is also known to boost testosterone levels in men, as well as blood sugar levels in diabetics. It is believed to be attributed to fenugreek’s role in insulin production. On top of this, it can help with appetite and digestive issues (WebMD).

While Fenigreek is considered a dietary supplement used for general good health, it may be suggested for use in certain cases to help treat or mitigate a specific medical condition. In this case, Fenugreek may be eligible with a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) from a medical professional. Always contact your benefits administrator if you’re unsure if an expense such as fenugreek supplement will be allowable.
