Melatonin: FSA Eligibility

Melatonin: requires a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) to be eligible with a Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
Melatonin may be eligible with a Letter of Medical Necessity for reimbursement with a flexible spending account (FSA), health savings account (HSA), or a health reimbursement arrangement (HRA). Melatonin is not eligible with a dependent care flexible spending account (DCFSA) or a limited-purpose flexible spending account (LPFSA).

What is melatonin?

Melatonin is a hormone in your body associated with sleep. During the day, less melatonin is produced and during the night, more melatonin is produced. It is also available as a supplement commonly used to treat sleep disorders.

What are the risks of taking melatonin?

Melatonin is unlike many sleep medications in that you are unlikely to become dependent on melatonin for sleep, have a lower response because of frequent usage or experience grogginess the next morning.
