What is a mobility scooter?

A mobility scooter is a power-operated mobility device consisting of a seat over a series of wheels intended to make moving around easier. It doesn’t require the manual strength required to push a wheelchair, making it among those who are unable to manually push themselves.

The scooters can operate at a variety of speeds dependent on the make and model of the scooter purchased. Scooters can be personalized in some cases to meet the needs of the user. They are operated using either the thumb or index finger to use the lever needed to make the mobility scooter move (Disabled World).
