Over-the-Counter Medicine: FSA Eligibility
Over-the-Counter Medicine: eligible with a Flexible Savings Account (FSA)
Over-the-counter medicine is eligible for reimbursement with a flexible spending account (FSA), health savings account (HSA), health reimbursement arrangement (HRA) and limited-purpose flexible spending account (LPFSA). Over-the-counter (OTC) medicine is not eligible for reimbursement with a dependent care flexible spending account (DCFSA).
As of March 2020 with the passage of the CARES Act, the OTC Rx requirement has been repealed and prescriptions are no longer necessary to purchase over-the-counter medicines with an FSA or HSA. Over-the-counter medicines are now fully eligible with no restrictions for FSA and HSA users.
