Can I use my FSA to cover the expense of botox injections that are used for chronic headaches?
Botox injections are typically not eligible for reimbursement with an FSA as they are primarily used for cosmetic purposes. However, in recent years, these injections have begun to be used for a variety of health conditions as well. In most cases, Botox injections will require a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) from a doctor to explain how this treatment will be used to treat a legitimate medical condition. This letter is submitted with other documentation when submitting a reimbursement claim.
